Theme Exhibition 〈Laputa ― Children in Verbs〉

Children are new. Day by day, they go beyond themselves, becoming someone new.
Children are big. Though small in stature, their hearts are big enough to reach out to the very end of the sea of our imagination.
Children are surprising. For they always observe secrets of the world that elude grown-ups’ perspective.
Children are beautiful. See how their eyes sparkle as they pursue their passions without any calculations or hesitation.
Children are tearful. For they have never dismiss the sorrow of the weaks as separate from themselves.
Children are brave. For their first thoughts reach what they can save, rather than what they may lose. Then they move forward.
Children are difficult. Not a single one is the same, thus they must all be seen for themselves and be listened to attentively.
Children are precious. They should be valued now for they have the longest path ahead.
Children are fun. For they are geniuses at discerning what is fun and immediately drop anything that is not.
Above all, children love books, poems, and stories. If a child does not like a book, the book must not have been good enough.

Children who read good books make a difference. Changing the world begins with their little hands.
That is why we are here to become “verbs” alongside children. Our Laputa is an infinite land of books.
The theme of this exhibition 〈Laputa ― Children in Verbs〉 is composed with four verbs: “Nurturing,” “Soaring,” “Shining,” and “Drawing.”
The first category “Nurturing Children” gathers books about raising and caring, restoring lives. Children are the offspring of the earth, friends of the sky and sea.
“Soaring Children” compiles books that set children free, encouraging them to play and encourage their creativity. Children need more freedom.
“Shining Children” consists of books drawing the sunlight that shines equally on all children. Books have always shone lights on the way for children’s adventures.
“Drawing Children” follows children’s curiosity. Children want to know about everything. Once they understand something, they invite them in their journey, hand in hand.
That’s how children show their love for the world.

In 〈Laputa ― Children in Verbs〉, there’s nothing that can’t be done.
Though the world is a dangerous place, the world of books is a safe one.
Thought experiments are welcome here. Books trust and respect their young readers. Go on and find a book for yourself.
If you happen to find a book you enjoy here, will you consider making room in your heart for any strange new books you might encounter in the future?
That gallant request is the only one we have to make.
This is 〈Laputa ― Children in Verbs〉, the joyful world of books!
Dear young readers, go ahead and do as your heart says.
